With wall graphics there are some key parameters that can be the difference between your graphics falling to the floor when you turn your back, or even worse, taking the paint and half the wall with it when you try to remove the graphic. Whether you are covering a full wall or creating a decorative accent… sticking to a light or heavy textured surface… targeting removal a few days later or a few years later...we’ve got you covered.
If you have a clear surface like a window, a door, or a wall panel, it is usually there for some aesthetic or functional purpose. You probably don’t want to cover it with an opaque graphic. So why would you settle for a clear graphic film that is not as clear as your glass surface?

3222Most walls have some texture from drywall, paint, or plaster. A textured surface does not provide enough surface area for low-tack adhesive to grip and maintain its adhesion. If you are not sure if your wall is smooth enough for low-tack adhesive, you can always test the surface first. After cleaning the wall surface with isopropyl alcohol, apply a small sample of the graphic material with firm pressure. Check back 24 hours later to see if the edges have released from the wall or worse, the graphic has released entirely. If so, select a product with a more aggressive adhesive.

3222Sometimes you are not worried about reapplying or removing your graphic. When it goes up, it is not coming down until the wall comes down. Permanent adhesive forms a lasting bond with most surfaces that will endure against temperature, moisture and sunlight.

3222Wall graphics can be difficult to install on your first attempt, even with two people and a flat surface. Removable adhesives are designed to ease the process of installation and removal. If your first attempt didn’t work out so well, that’s ok, peel it up and start again. A removable adhesive will stick on your second and third attempts. Removal is just as easy. Whether you installed the graphic six months prior or the day before, when you take it down, you want it to remove cleanly and with no adhesive residue remaining on the mounting surface.

3222You may ask, “How do I know if I have a smooth or textured surface? I can rub my hand over my wall and it feels relatively smooth.” When graphic installers talk about smooth surfaces, they are usually talking about windows or mounting boards. Most walls have some texture from drywall, paint, or plaster that requires a specific adhesive to ensure a good bond to less surface area.

3222Most walls are not perfectly smooth or perfectly flat. If you cover a rough, textured wall with a smooth graphic material, those imperfections will still show through. But if you use a textured material, you can help hide imperfections in the wall surface and create a traditional wallpaper look.
